Northumberland Based
Ponteland's housing stock ranges from Victorian and Edwardian stone-built properties with original natural slate roofs, through post-war housing with concrete interlocking tiles, to contemporary properties with more complex roof designs. Each type presents different roofing challenges — and we have the expertise to handle all of them.
Northumberland's climate is unforgiving. High winds, heavy rainfall, and driving frost mean that poor workmanship or unsuitable materials will fail quickly. We use materials that are matched to the property type and always use correct fixings, flashings, and underlays to ensure longevity.
We always provide an honest assessment — sometimes a repair is all that's needed, and we'll tell you that rather than quoting for a full re-roof you don't need.
The full range — from a leaking slate to a brand new roof
Full re-roofs using natural slate, concrete tile, or clay tile. We strip, batten, membrane, and re-lay to current standards — with all ridge, hip, and valley work completed properly.
Correct leadwork around chimneys, abutments, dormers, and flat-to-pitched junctions is essential on Ponteland's older properties. We cut and dress lead by hand to the traditional method that lasts for decades.
Replacing slipped or broken slates, re-bedding ridge tiles, repointing verges, and repairing localised damage. We provide clear inspection reports with photos so you know exactly what's needed and why.
Garage, bay, and extension flat roofs — installed using modern GRP (fibreglass) or EPDM rubber membranes that far outlast traditional felt. Cold or warm roof build-ups to suit the application.
We manufacture bespoke roof trusses in our own workshop and install them on site — handling the full process for new-build, extension, and garage roofing projects, tailor-made to the exact span and pitch of your Ponteland build.
UPVC or aluminium fascias, soffits, and guttering — replaced or repaired at the same time as roofing work to protect the roof's edge and prevent water ingress to the eaves.

From Ponteland homeowners about roofing
This is the question we hear most often. The answer depends on the age of the roof covering, the condition of the remaining slates or tiles, and the state of the underlying felt and battens. We'll give you an honest assessment after inspection — sometimes a targeted repair buys another 20 years; sometimes a full re-roof is genuinely the right answer.
We use natural slate, concrete tiles, and clay tiles depending on the property type and what's most appropriate. For period and heritage properties we'll advise on the best material to match or complement the existing roof. Just call us to discuss your specific situation and we'll point you in the right direction.
A standard Ponteland detached house re-roof typically takes 3–7 days depending on size and any additional leadwork or structural repairs discovered during stripping. We'll weather your property as quickly as possible if bad weather is forecast and agree a programme with you before work starts.
Absolutely — and it makes excellent sense. If we're already on the roof for a loft conversion dormer or an extension roof, it's the ideal time to address the condition of the main roof covering too. We can quote for both and schedule them together, saving you mobilisation costs and disruption.
"Had a leaking roof that two other roofers had 'repaired' to no effect. Chris came out, found the actual problem within an hour, and sorted it properly. No nonsense, excellent workmanship, and genuinely honest. Wouldn't use anyone else."
